Sauerland Stern Hotel

The breakfast had great choices and something for everyone, and the service was amazing. The staff were super friendly, there were lots of them, and although most spoke only English, everyone did their job well. Still, we won’t be going back. For the price and what we got, it wasn’t worth it. We expected an amazing place based on the rates and the conditions for booking directly through the website, but it felt very overpriced and low quality. The hotel and rooms looked like they were from the 80s. The bedroom was badly laid out and stuffy, with no airflow unless we left the balcony door open all night. I wouldn’t want to stay there in summer. The bathroom was so cramped we had to shut the door just to move around and brush our teeth. The beds were very comfortable, but one lamp in our room didn’t work, and the hotel design made it very loud at night. Dinner had very few choices, so on our last night we ate at the hotel’s Italian restaurant. It also had a small menu, prices were high, and changing anything from the limited menu cost extra. We’d already paid for dinner when booking the hotel, so eating there meant paying again. At 10 pm, the vending machine’s €3.50 small bottle of water was the only option, which was crazy.

The wellness facilities were excellent, with a good choice of saunas and a pool. Breakfast had plenty of options, too. The room was a bit dated, though it was large and comfortable. For such a big hotel, it didn’t have much atmosphere. A bigger bar or social area could help.

A peaceful, beautiful place for all kinds of getaways and relaxation. It can host groups or individual visits, with large conference halls and restaurants that accommodate a lot of people. Worth every cent. I’d recommend it any day.

We found Sauerland Stern Hotel while casually searching Google Maps for somewhere close to the ski piste, and it was within walking distance. The room was spacious, the view was good, and breakfast was good as well. Our daughter couldn’t wait to get back from skiing and run to the indoor playground, called Kinder-Eldorado. It was perfect for her. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we’re already looking forward to staying at Sauerland Stern hotel again. Fantastic, really.
