Rüters Parkhotel

The service and reception were nice, and the location was good. We booked the newer two-room apartment shown in the photo, but were given an older one that was well maintained. There were a lot of older people staying at the hotel, which bothered us a bit, and the bar was very small. Breakfast was decent, just average. We spent ages choosing a hotel in Willingen, so this one left us a little disappointed.

Close to the center and a nice place to relax. The rooms were neat, the service was excellent, and breakfast was awesome. Great value for money.

There’s a lovely pool and spa, and the breakfast is wonderful. The hotel sits right in the middle of town. Some of the decor feels old-fashioned, but you could also call it charming.

The staff were nice and doing their jobs, and the food was okay with plenty of options. Sometimes it was too salty, sometimes not salty enough. We waited over 30 minutes for fried eggs and an omelette, and had to remind the waiter, even though we were the only customers in the restaurant. Our apartment was advertised for 3-5 people, but it only really worked for two people and a small child because the couch didn’t extend. The child's bed was in a space under 4 sqm, with no natural light and a window that opened right next to a wall. It wasn’t suitable for sleeping or living, and felt claustrophobic with no way to get air in. I asked about another option, but got nowhere, even though the hotel was almost empty. The furniture was old, and the bed was uncomfortable. The place was maintained, but somehow creepy. Part of the wardrobe was above the night table and next to the bed, so I kept worrying I’d hit my head when I got up. It didn’t feel like a four-star hotel, either. There wasn’t even a way to make coffee or tea in the room. A nice lady in the restaurant lent me a kettle and said reception would note a €5 deposit. I was glad I could make tea, but at checkout I found out I had to pay the €5 to borrow it. On our way there, we got a message saying dinner wouldn’t be served the next day. They did offer us the option to cancel for free, but our plans were already set and we were on our way. This should have been mentioned on the booking page. We won’t be going back.
