Raststättenhotel Dresdner Tor Süd

We had a hot chocolate and cappuccino from Coffee Fellow, and they were just what I expected. There’s a Burger King too, but the queue wasn’t moving and service seemed too slow, so we gave up. Otherwise, it was a good stop.

We’d planned to eat while charging the car, but when we arrived on Sunday night the doors were shut. The website says it’s open 24/7, so we ended up waiting in the car.

We’d paid for the reservation and arrived just before 11 pm, delayed by traffic, only to find the hotel closed and nobody there. Reception is shut overnight, and the contact number from the booking went to a worker who wasn’t onsite. We’d been travelling since 3 am and needed a proper rest before continuing to a family funeral, so this was extremely disappointing. The staff member answered on her private phone and sounded fed up with the late arrival, and was very unfriendly. Now we have to find somewhere else to stay after paying for this place.

The food was good, but the whole visit felt stressful and unpleasant. The service woman either couldn’t or didn’t want to speak English, and her expression made it seem like she was annoyed while we took time to choose. I’d get lunch somewhere else.
