The atmosphere was the one good part. The schnitzel was pricey and clearly pre-made rather than homemade, and we waited ages for the food. Dessert never arrived, with no apology or explanation. The checkbox ordering system also failed, leaving items out. The young waitress seemed completely overwhelmed while looking after four occupied tables.

The generous portions are very fairly priced, and the homemade ice cream at Krambergsmühle tastes fantastic. Winkelbach has a real hidden gem here, in an idyllic spot that’s lovely for relaxing. We’ll definitely come back.
