Golfloft Winterberg

A really beautiful place.

The pool was a real highlight, roughly 12 meters long by my guess, with two nice enclosed showers. The apartment itself was bright thanks to the big window wall opening onto a sheltered balcony. We stayed in apartment 34: one bedroom with two 1.40-meter-wide beds, plus a living room with a sofa bed and another sofa that could sleep one person. There was lots of space in the entrance and two large wardrobes in the bedroom. The kitchen is small and has no counter space, though it worked for our three-day stay since we weren't planning elaborate meals. The bathroom and separate toilet are tiny but adequate. Getting the key took a little figuring out because the key box wasn't always easy to spot, and the apartment numbers were hard to see from outside. For walking and skiing the location worked well, with Poppenberg ski station around a 15-minute walk away. The town is a bit far, so a car is needed. Parking is free and plentiful. We'd come back. My one complaint is that the bedroom curtains don't cover the full windows, let alone darken the room. Fine in winter, but in summer you'd wake up early.

We found the little pool very pleasant, and it was usually empty in the mornings during our stay. There's also a sauna indoors, operated with coins. The complex sits right by the golf course in Winterberg, with lovely natural surroundings and forest along the edge. The town is nearby and easy to reach by bike.

Downstairs there's a lovely, very clean pool and a sauna, and there's plenty of parking outside. Inside, the apartment feels cozy and is a good fit for a couple or small family, with a compact kitchen and bathroom, a bedroom with balcony, and a roomy living area with extra sleeping space. The building's exterior isn't especially appealing, though. A shower cubicle would be better than the curtain. Still, it's a good spot for a short stay, and we hope to visit again. The landlord sends all the practical information, including weather updates.
