Being right by the slopes, with such lovely scenery, is a big plus, and the park works really well for kids. Our cabin was nicely childproofed. There’s also a small shop open on Sundays, though it’s pricey, and a decent bistro. Inside, things feel a bit dated and the beds were much too firm for me. The Tapkey app was buggy and frustrating when we tried to unlock the doors. I’d rather just have a key. We also didn’t get the usual Landal cleaning kit, so we had to go buy a cloth, dish soap, and dishwasher tablets. That didn’t feel very welcoming. WiFi barely worked, and mobile reception was poor too, so bring a book. On our last night, guests from another cabin got into a physical fight, with a lot of shouting and screaming. The police came. I told reception, but they seemed unaware and brushed it off as “having clarified it.” That felt like a strange response to an incident that frightened kids and pets. It would have been nice if they’d spoken to the people involved about the disturbance. I’d still be happy to come back, especially if the accommodation gets some improvements.

The main disappointment for us was getting to the ski pistes with small children and all our equipment. Although the slopes are close, the roads were steeper than I expected, so walking there wasn’t practical. Of the four slopes within walking distance, only Landallift is for beginners, and it was closed during our Christmas holiday. The other three are red runs, so they don’t suit beginners. The pool was very nice, though there was no lifeguard. Rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms were all clean, and the on-site market was good enough and stayed open over the Christmas holidays. The road from the main road is narrow.

We stayed here briefly with the whole family. The owners were clear in their communication and adapted to what we wanted. The rooms are spacious and breakfast was great. Highly recommended.

We spent four days in a 12-person house with a BBQ and sauna. It was clean when we arrived, and everything worked. The only hiccup was the TV WiFi dropping out now and then.

The stars over the snow from the balcony at night were pure magic, and being right on the slopes made everything so convenient. Winterberg itself is beautiful and peaceful, and I absolutely loved it. From the moment I arrived, the staff were so kind and ready to help that I felt right at home. The food was delicious, and the restaurant views were breathtaking. I’d highly recommend this place for a cozy winter getaway.
