Hotel-Restaurant Haus Hubertus

Winter-spelt sounds like something from a fairy tale. Such a lovely stay in a beautiful place, with comfortable rooms and great hospitality from the staff. Keep up the good work, see you again soon.

The breakfast had a generous, varied selection of hot and cold food, including eggs, sausages, meatballs, tomatoes, four kinds of yoghurt, and cheese. The food was tasty, and there’s a separate shared kitchenette with Senseo coffee or tea. Our room was spacious, modern, neat, and accessible for wheelchair users, with a great shower offering three spray settings. Staff were very friendly. The bar ladies checked in a bit more often than I liked to ask if we wanted another drink, but a friendly “nein Danke” was enough. There was an empty water bottle left on the table when we arrived, which kept it from being a perfect score. Bikes can be stored in a locked area at the back, and there’s plenty of private parking. It’s a good starting point for one of the three marked public hikes.

The meal was good, the portions were large, and the prices were good value, but service took a long time. Our ice cream sundaes had melted by the time they arrived. It looked like just two people were running the whole place. The waitress was rushing around and handled it remarkably well without getting flustered, but she couldn’t serve everyone at once. The hotel itself is comfortable, with modern, clean rooms, a balcony with good views, and free WiFi. It’s in a nice village location just off the A60. Several bulbs in our room were out. They need more staff.

A pleasant stay. The room was clean and had a mini fridge, the restaurant had a good menu with a reasonably priced dish of the day, and breakfast was quite good.
