Hotel Wendland

We paid €100 a night for two people, and for us the dusty room made the stay poor value. There were cobwebs too. The decor was dated, with a 70s feel in the room, bathroom, lighting, and duvets. Older style wouldn’t have bothered us if the place had been clean and hygienic. We arrived about an hour before check-in, with quiet roads, but the welcome was unfriendly. We were told straight away that check-in was at 3:00 PM, so we waited outside. Breakfast was reasonable, though it could have offered more. There wasn’t an egg every day, and the one we had was very soft-boiled. We asked if it could be boiled a little harder the next morning, but were told everyone likes eggs differently and there would be no eggs tomorrow. Our week-long package listed seven nights in a double room with shower, toilet, and hairdryer, seven buffet breakfasts, a welcome drink per person, a Moselle boat trip, a wine cellar tasting, and a bottle of quality wine per person on departure. The welcome drink was a bottle of water, while we had expected a glass of wine. The tasting was cancelled because the owner's husband had to go to hospital, and there was no compensation. They could at least have offered an extra bottle of wine. We also had to ask about the Moselle trip ourselves. They should explain it to guests, or people may miss it. Given the dust and the price, we wouldn’t stay here again.
