Hotel Wittenburger Tor

The lunch special was delicious, and it cost €5.90. The staff were very nice and friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant and clean. It was my first visit today, and I’m going back tomorrow to try the schnitzel with kohlrabi and carrot vegetables and boiled potatoes, for the same price. 👍😋😁

Breakfast was the letdown. There was only one kind of roll and one kind of cheese, plus cold cuts and jam, so just the basics. Still, I’d come back anytime for the room and the price. My room was spacious, clean, and functionally furnished with modern furniture. I did miss a luggage rack, but parking right outside the door and Wi-Fi were free.

We were thrilled with the delicious food and good service when we came for Christmas 2021, so we returned for Christmas 2022. This time service was very poor. We waited 45 minutes just to get our drinks while the staff cleared tables instead of preparing them. I don’t mind a long wait for food if we have drinks in the meantime. The meal came another half hour later, and they almost brought me the wrong dish. They corrected it, but I didn’t get my food until everyone else had finished. The staff were very friendly, but seemed overwhelmed despite only a few reserved tables. The two of us will definitely come back, but for our larger group’s Christmas meal next year, we’ll choose another restaurant.

The rooms are clean, modern, and well equipped, and you can get into the hotel at any time using a code obtained through a mobile phone number. The mattresses were too hard. Breakfast was minimal, and the coffee wasn’t strong enough for guests who prefer a stronger morning brew. It’s a good place to stay, but I’d have breakfast somewhere else.
