Hotel Carolinensiel Doan

Breakfast had lots to choose from, including sweet spreads, cold cuts, cheese, fish, muesli, boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, small meatballs, and several juices. For €90 a night on the Friesenmeile just before New Year's Eve, I don't think there's anything to complain about. This was our second stay and we were very satisfied again. Our first-floor room had a new bathroom, light laminate flooring, a box-spring bed, and pale furniture, so I don't understand the comments calling it old-fashioned. The owners are very friendly, and we'll definitely stay again.

The hotel is quite close to the city center, and it's fine for a night if you don't expect too much. The €5 dog surcharge was perfectly reasonable. What really annoyed me was having to pay it in cash, with it left off the bill. Make of that what you will.

We felt completely at ease here. The hosts were incredibly friendly, the price was fair for what you get, and everything is easy to reach on foot. It's a lovely little family-run hotel, spotless and tidy, and a good place to relax. You can tell they run it with heart. Breakfast was perfectly fine. One small suggestion: labels on the cheese and cold cuts would help guests with food intolerances. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

My parents spent two nights there. The service felt sluggish, meaning slow. The place is a bit old-fashioned, though that may suit some people. I thought it cost too much for what you get, and the view isn't nice. There is a large parking lot right in front of the hotel.
