Naturparkhotel Adler

I traveled 400km to help out at this hotel as a Kuchenchef during a business meeting. When I asked the manager, Frau Barbara Gonzalez, to reimburse 40euros for diesel costs, she ignored me. I don't think that was fair. In my experience, she was arrogant, dismissive, and unprofessional, acting as if she owned the place. The way management treats its own people here is disappointing. Dr Lohbeck hotels group should fire her for her behavior and lack of professionalism.

The setting is ideal for getting away to relax, with no mobile network, lovely scenery, and hiking trails starting right at the hotel. Deer wander through the garden, where you can feed them, which was a lovely experience for both kids and adults. We loved our stay. The hotel has spacious rooms, including an option for connecting rooms that worked well for a family of three. Food was delicious, the wellness area has two pools and a sauna, and the pool bistro serves a lunch buffet and tasty homemade cakes. Breakfast had a fantastic selection, though I found the bread bland.

The location is quiet and green, the spa is nice, and the rooms are comfortable. It's a lovely place to disconnect and recharge. Checking out was a letdown, though: the receptionist was so dismissive that she came across as rude. Fixing that would make the stay more enjoyable.

The hotel's surroundings are lovely, with green scenery and trails for hiking and mountain biking. That's the only positive thing I can say about it. I was in Germany on a work trip with colleagues, invited by one of the country's biggest industrial groups, which apparently often puts its guests here. I was promised a mountain bike twice for 7 in the morning. When I went to collect it, the receptionist rudely said she was busy until 8 and couldn't give me the bike. Getting help with the bike was a frustrating experience. Dinner was worse. I liked the carrot soup, but my medium rare steak arrived well done, even though I had emphasized how I wanted it. That can happen, but after I sent it back, they brought out the same piece two minutes later, just turned over to hide the cut I'd made, with fried onions placed on top. I sent it back again. The waiter looked embarrassed and seemed to know what the chef had done. The waiters were kind and working extremely hard to serve everyone, but there weren't enough of them. I then ordered dessert and was given something else. The waiter said my choice wasn't available and the chef had substituted another one. I wanted to speak with the chef, but he refused to talk to me and told the waiter to send me to the kitchen instead. By then I knew I was in the wrong place. I was with a group of 10, and every one of us had a problem with the kitchen. These are just the things that happened to me.
