We booked the special offer for week B, which made the price feel perfectly fair, if not especially good value. You can also book massages, which was a big plus for us. Waldfrieden has a nostalgic feel, and you don't always know what dinner will be. They do ask about allergies or foods you can't eat, though, and every meal we had was tasty and plentiful. The owner and his family are lovely, and we felt very welcome as guests. The food was really good too. The place has a bit of that East German charm, though it's all somewhat dated.

We found the guesthouse relaxing and are already looking forward to another holiday with the lovely König family in Wolkenstein. The host was consistently friendly and did his best to make us comfortable. Everything was very clean, and the rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Our four-night stay as a couple had a nostalgic appeal, a little like a FDGB holiday home from the GDR era. The home-style meals tasted just like home. Our half-board package included a hearty breakfast and a varied hot set meal in the evening. The menu changed each day, so it was always a surprise, alternating between a bedside pudding and a soup starter. We enjoyed every meal and would highly recommend the guesthouse.

It was such a welcoming stay, and the host made us feel at home. The value for money is excellent, and we had a wonderful vacation, including our young grandson. The food was proper home-style cooking, and they were happy to accommodate our requests. Rooms are practical, cozy, and very clean, with excellent mattresses. We'll definitely come back.
