Landhaus Strandallee

Good house.

Reception is mostly digital, but someone is always on hand to help if needed. The bright breakfast room with a fireplace is open to guests all day, and breakfast is simple but adequate, sometimes included. Staff are friendly. The small hotel is a little outside town, so a car is advisable for shops, pharmacies, restaurants, and the like, though the setting is lovely and quiet. Some rooms have balconies over a canal leading to Lake Steinhude. The recently renovated rooms are practical but mostly quite small, as are the bathrooms. It's a small, family-run bed and breakfast, and it can be a bit noisy, so it's best for people who don't expect too much. Just around the corner there's a small peninsula and a footpath to the water, Großenheidorn Beach. What more could you want? :)

We liked where the hotel was, and the room was clean, though a little small. The dark bathroom had hardly any storage. Breakfast was a letdown: no fresh rolls or vegetables, and some of the fruit was overripe, partly rotten. What a shame!

The house and surrounding area have a fantastic atmosphere, and it's highly recommended. The location is beautiful, very close to the sea, with stylish, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was superb too. The only downside is that there's no restaurant in the village, so you need to take a car or bike to find one.
