Spark by Hilton Wuppertal City Centre

The room was new and clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was fine. Still, I can’t give this more than two stars. The garage exit is extremely narrow for maneuvering a car. In the evening, lots of cars park right outside it to “save a few euros,” blocking cars from exiting, and I’m shocked the hotel does nothing about it. My main concern is the charges for guests who asked for an email receipt. In our group of four rooms, the two with e-receipts were overcharged by nearly €100 per person, while the two with paper receipts weren’t. What are the odds? When we went back to confront the hotel, we got no explanation and no apology. What kind of attitude is that? One suggestion rather than a complaint: I appreciated the plate of sweets offered at check-in for Gold members, but more and more people care about health. If possible, a fruit plate would be much more appreciated.

The place is super clean and well positioned, and the staff are super friendly. The only downside is that it isn’t warm enough. The fan coil unit doesn’t heat the room strongly enough, and the radiator in the bathroom doesn’t work. Thank you.

The location and price are hard to beat, and the staff are really friendly. The rooms feel comfortable and modern. The shower is on the small side, but it was fine. They also give you free public transit passes during your stay, so take a ride on the beautiful schwebebahn!

Clean, spacious rooms, solid WiFi, and inexpensive parking off-site make this fine for a night if the price is right, under 75 EUR. It also shows what the Spark concept is: an older hotel gets a coat of paint and new furniture, then a cheap rebrand. Nothing is actually wrong here, but there's no soul or personality either. Just as Hilton intended.
