We chose this place over international chains because it looked historical and authentic. We really wish we hadn’t. The rooms felt tired, dirty, and cheaply furnished, with ripped curtains and bathrooms, towels included, that looked straight out of the 1970s. We never saw any staff during our stay, and there was no way to reach them. The phone just played a recording with no option to leave a message. An absolute joke.

The landlady was friendly and helpful, and I had a lovely stay in a single room on the second floor facing the street. It had its own bathroom and shower, plus a table, TV, and wifi. The double-glazed windows and roller shutter helped keep out heat, cold, and noise. It’s centrally located, an easy walk from the train station and into town, with excellent restaurants nearby. You can pay by card or cash. Breakfast can be booked ahead for an extra EUR5 if there are no other guests. I’d recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget.

The location is the one practical thing about this place, with easy access to downtown activities. The hotel is overrated. It isn’t old and cute, just old and poorly maintained, and the breakfast isn’t worth talking about.

A small, comfy Beerhouse serving traditional cuisine. It can get loud.

Good value for the location, with a family feel. Nothing extra.
