Bed and Breakfast am Meerturm

We stopped here on a biking holiday on a cold night in April. The hosts were so welcoming, and both the room and breakfast were great. Modern, clean room, and a breakfast that was out of this world. Highly recommend this place.

We were comfortable during our two-night stay, and the quiet, well-kept rooms would work for a short visit or a longer one. The B&B sits inside the city walls, right by a tower in the middle of town, so you can get everywhere on foot. Cafes and bakeries are close by, with some open on Sundays, and the hosts can suggest places to eat, both in person and in writing. The two Dutch hosts are young at heart, though breakfast isn’t provided. You can also reach leisure activities by bike, bus, or the miniature train, which runs until around 4 pm. We can wholeheartedly recommend it.

The rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, and the owner was excellent to communicate with. There’s no breakfast at the hotel, unfortunately, but several options are nearby. Xanten itself is a really lovely place. I’d book here again.
