We booked the apartment through Booking.com for €800 for a Saturday-to-Saturday week, including final cleaning, and thought we’d found a good deal. An automated message said the cleaning would have to be paid on arrival, so I asked straight away if it was included. Kronenfeld accommodation never answered. I waited, then a week before arrival they sent the address and told me who to contact. Tom's Cleaning Service also messaged and asked me to call the day before to discuss our arrival time. They said there was a key safe for late arrivals, and communication with them was easy and friendly. We got there early and rang the bell. Someone loudly called us in, but the woman seemed annoyed and we felt like we were intruding. We got the tourist cards and the key we’d ordered. After that, nobody mentioned extra costs again. We eventually found the place, the apartment in the red garden shed with the brown door. It looked nothing like the online pictures. There was a living room with kitchenette and dining table, corner sofa and TV, a bathroom with shower, and one bedroom. Parking was in the driveway, and other guests were staying right next door. The apartment was alright, but the advertised dishwasher was missing. The kitchen had a vacuum cleaner, mop, clothes rack, sink, coffee maker, kettle, fridge, and dishes. Bring your own coffee filters and spices. There was a noticeable water stain on the living room ceiling that had clearly been painted over several times, and the sofa was large but worn. The bedroom was okay, with a comfortable bed, wardrobe, and foldable crib. The shower was large, but cleaning left a lot to be desired. The limescale on the door was obvious, so I used the cleaning product provided. There were only two rolls of toilet paper for the week, and we bought more right away. Outside, the setup felt makeshift rather than cozy: an old, heavy concrete table with comfortable chairs, an untrimmed hedge leaving little space, a tired parasol, an old grill, and several garbage cans. In the living room there was a note with contact details and instructions for leaving. Guests are expected to leave the apartment “broom clean,” though no broom was provided, so I vacuumed thoroughly again. Final cleaning should cover the bathroom, toilets, sinks, and shower, floors swept or vacuumed and mopped, and windows. It didn’t seem to be taken seriously, and that was clear on arrival. The nicest part was the view. There’s an apartment building behind the converted garden shed, and the woman on the second floor was always very interested in what we were doing. I waved to her a few times. There are blackout curtains but no simple curtains. The location is okay, around a ten-minute walk to the beach promenade. The accommodation itself was okay if you don’t expect much, but the information beforehand was wrong and I wish the booking details had been honest so we could prepare. For a lot of money and very little effort, it felt like a garden shed being rented out.
