The house we booked through Novasol was fine, clean, quiet, and equipped just as we expected. The village was another matter: it felt like a museum display, sterile and lifeless, with a cemetery-like atmosphere. There was no playground, football pitch, ping-pong table, shop, mailbox, or access to the water. Everything required a car, all the time. There is the Szczecin Lagoon on one side, but nowhere to walk along it, and the Heringsdorf airfield on the other, with kilometers of chain-link fence. We didn't have a bike, and couldn't have used one with our dog anyway, so getting around on foot was simply frustrating. Near the fishing village there is a Greek-Italian restaurant, but its cooking could use improvement, and there's no competition. Perhaps this could have been researched beforehand. We know better now. The house itself is great, and Novasol is modern, impersonal but uncomplicated. The location and cultural infrastructure of the "fishing village" were unpleasant.

The view across the lagoon is breathtaking, and the place was so peaceful, just a dream. The complex is very well kept, and our holiday home was spotless. The caretaker even cleared snow from our driveway every day. If you're after quiet with no hustle and bustle, this is the place. The house was stylish and fully furnished, and we really didn't miss a thing. Great value for money, we felt we got more than we paid for. We'd happily come back 🥰

Heringsdorf Airport is right next door, but we didn't find it bothersome at all and heard no aircraft noise. The thatched houses are all new and modern inside, set about 6 km from Ahlbeck in a beautiful development. From there, it's a short drive to Ahlbeck, Benzin, Heringsdorf, Karl's Strawberry Village, and Usedom Bison Reserve. Just remember to get your visitor's tax cards at the tourist information office. They're inexpensive, and everything else costs more if you don't have them.

This quiet, well-kept holiday home complex sits beside the Szczecin Lagoon, with only thatched single and two-family houses that fit in naturally among the pine trees. We stayed there in September and November 2021. Sadly, prices went up exorbitantly after the Corona crisis, so we had to look for somewhere else.
