Hotel Hvide Klit

Saturday’s team dinner was the standout for us. The hotel restaurant served an excellent three-course meal with great flavors and a nice wine selection. The whole team was impressed, even the foodie among us. We’d booked Hotel Hvide Kilt for a team meeting, and it surpassed everything I expected. It’s in a lovely remote spot beside an impressive links golf course, so there’s a good mix of outdoor activity and quiet surroundings for work or downtime. The weather was clear while we were there, too. After dinner I went outside for some air and was amazed by how many stars were visible without city lights. The west coast of the peninsula is only a 10-minute drive away, a great place for a break. The landscape felt unlike anywhere I’ve been, and the historic German WWII bunkers along the shore made a strong impression. Hotel Hvide Kilt has comfort and things to do in equal measure. I’d recommend it for a group, or for anyone exploring Denmark’s natural and historical beauty.

The rooms and property were immaculate, and the food menu had a fantastic range of dishes and wines. Staff were friendly, courteous, and on the ball throughout. I stayed with colleagues a couple of weeks ago in late September, and the weather was phenomenal. The location is great for golf, with a links course less than 100 m away. The beach is about 700 m off, and the dunes are less than a 10-minute drive. Historic Skagen is also a short drive away and well worth visiting. I travel extensively and would highly recommend the property. Ask for a tour, especially if you’re into cars and motorcycles. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Dinner was very good, and the staff were friendly and professional. The chefs clearly know what they’re doing, so it’s a good option if you’d rather not go into Skagen to eat. Our room was less impressive. The “Comfort Double” felt very basic for what we paid, and we’d expected more for the money. The pillows smelled really bad, as if they’d gone sour in the laundry. We asked the cleaning staff to replace them, but the new ones had exactly the same smell. It’s too bad they didn’t check the pillows themselves, since that could have made our stay much more pleasant. Maybe others have had the same experience, I’m not sure. We had a mixed stay at Hotel Hvideklit. The staff were very helpful, but the room fell short of our expectations.

The cuisine was excellent and the staff were nice. It’s a sports hotel, but the beds were comfortable, and the setting by the golf course was quiet and relaxing. Don’t let your navigation confuse you, follow the road signs, as that’s the only right way. Grenen is about 25 minutes away by car, and the nearest beach is a 10-minute walk.
