The room itself was a problem before the noise even started: the duvet and sheets were dirty, there was no kettle, mini fridge, hairdryer, or bathroom socket, and you get a password instead of a room key. The hotel could use vending machines for food, coffee, and hot water. The breakfast area also has sexually explicit posters that aren't suitable for kids. I stayed in room 211, away from Jomfru Ane Gade, and it was still incredibly loud. The website offers rooms facing the street or rooms in the center for “peace and quiet,” but quiet is the last thing I got. Picture drunk people and seagulls competing to scream, with people smashing things at 4 a.m., even on a Wednesday. They provide earplugs, but this seems like a poor place to stay if you need sleep. Reception was empty in the evening, and when staff were there, they didn't notice or greet me. If a hotel can't provide a place to sleep, what's the point? This may sound harsh, but that's how it felt.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, so I'd give the staff four stars. Cleanliness was quite okay too. But there are basically no services: no staff after 9 p.m., no luggage room, and no air conditioning. The party street outside didn't bother us as much as other guests talking. Our room window looked onto the breakfast room, where someone started the coffee machine at 6:30 in the morning. Without air conditioning, the room also got pretty sweaty. A good night's sleep is the most important thing a hotel should offer, and we didn't get one here.

Thin walls mean you can hear ordinary conversations from the next room. The rooms are small and warm, with windows opening onto the breakfast area. On Friday and Saturday party nights, you'll need earplugs.

The breakfast comes included, which is a nice bonus, and it was good value overall. Staff were friendly and efficient. The central location also makes it easy to get to everything you might need.

It's a small, cozy hotel, and the staff are amazing. Breakfast was incredible too. You're right in the middle of shopping, museums, and the waterfront. If you're driving, they offer a discount at a nearby parking garage. I'd absolutely stay here every time I come to Aalborg.
