Scandic Aarhus Vest

At check-in, the receptionist came across as very unfriendly, even by Danish standards. It seemed as if guests were a nuisance, including when she was at fault or had to explain that the sauna was out of order. I've stayed at Scandic in many cities, but this was my first stay here and will be my last.

Just a regular hotel, with a minimal room and only the bare basics. I picked it because it advertised a sauna and fitness facilities, but both were unavailable during my visit. Disappointing.

The food was a complete letdown. The salmon had no real flavor, and the veggie burger was awful, like greasy deep-fried mashed potatoes and almost impossible to eat. The fries were bad too, and I stopped after a few bites. I was still charged full price, so I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. Reception and restaurant staff gave excellent service, though. If I could rate the restaurant on its own, it'd get at most two stars.

Our travel agency booking caused a problem, but the hotel staff were patient and helped us work out a solution. Ramona at the front desk deserves a special thanks for being so kind and helpful.
