Hotel Klostergaarden

The rooms are tidy and clean, with simple furnishings. In the main building, all the rooms are upstairs, reached by a very steep staircase with narrow steps. You can only place your feet straight across, and the steps are spaced farther apart than usual. Anyone with difficulty walking should avoid it.

The courtyard is very cozy and breakfast is good, but we didn't feel welcome at check-in. We were met with a lot of pointing and instructions about what we couldn't do. The rooms also have no working ventilation, so sleeping with the window open is necessary.

We stayed for four nights, but the room was dark, gloomy, and much smaller than the rooms shown in the ads. The hostess didn't make us feel welcome, and there was no goodbye or thanks when we left. Service was basically nonexistent, and we won't return. We'd been promised sparkling water in the room, but were told it had been discontinued. We were offered wine or beer from the fridge instead, but weren't shown what we could take. There wasn't an open bottle of wine, so we opened one and poured a glass, while my husband took a beer. The hostess came over after we'd taken them and said that wasn't what we were supposed to do. The wine was far too expensive.

The garden room breakfast felt like something from a TV show, and the rooms were incredibly cozy. It feels more like a beach hotel than most places with that name. One small thing: I'd prefer regular milk, not lactose-free or oat milk. The table setup works for many wheelchair users, though getting to breakfast is difficult.
