We stayed for three days, and the helpful, welcoming reception staff made a good impression. The rooms are spacious enough for a family with four children, and breakfast is a decent open buffet. Parking is paid, with charging stations for electric cars. The central location, right by the harbor, makes it easy to walk to boutiques and restaurants. During the Christmas season, the hotel was beautifully decorated inside. Kids can enjoy the playroom and karaoke, while adults have a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. There are also water slides and plenty of aquapark attractions for children. I definitely recommend it.

We went on a Saturday and it still wasn't crowded. There were activities beyond the pools too, including gaming rooms, and the pool bar served alcohol for adults. The water park had lots to do for kids of all ages: deep and hidden pools, outdoor pools with a stream, slides, a wave pool, a jacuzzi, and a steam sauna. Most pools felt comfortably warm. The one with an outdoor section was cold, but even my boyfriend, who's a real cold chicken, didn't find the others cold. Our room was clean and cosy, and the staff were welcoming. I was surprised they tried their best to speak Swedish. Breakfast was awesome.

We spent New Year at The Reef in Frederikshavn and loved the family getaway. The décor, lighting, and sounds all give the property a tropical underwater feel, and there are things to do for every age group.

We love swimming, so it was a real disappointment that access now starts only after 15:00 on arrival day and isn't available on checkout day. Swimming was the whole reason we travelled to the Reef in Denmark, and this change made the stay much worse, especially for the price. We paid 8,000 kr, and being able to swim on the last day would have mattered a lot. We've been here three times with the family, and the hotel is beautiful as always. The service is always good, and the Danish people are wonderful.

The water park and pool area were surprisingly good, with at least five pools and other amenities, and breakfast was good too. The hotel has an immaculate feel for a family holiday, though it works well for adults as well. The facilities were very clean and newly renovated, but there was some mold in our shower. We also missed having a fridge, and the TV couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi. I'd still recommend it.
