Danhostel Frederikshavn City

The location is very central and handy if you need to catch an early STENA Line. The Boarding Station is just a few minutes’ walk away. The receptionist was really nice. I forgot to let her know I’d be arriving late, and she even called me and explained how to get the key. For one night, though, 80 € for the room and sheets without breakfast didn’t feel justified for this place. The walls are thin, and the doors don’t block noise from the floors, so it’s very noisy. The rooms are rather old but clean, and the beds are pretty small. I know it’s a Hostel, not a Hotel, but I think 50€ per person per night would be fair. One last thing, getting the reception door open with the key isn’t easy. Another guest and I both had to try a few times. Don’t worry, you’re at the right door, just keep trying a little.

A great Hostel for digital workers or tourists. It’s right by the shops, restaurants, and harbour, with ferries to the Læsø islands, Oslo, or Göteborg.

The manager is the best part of the place, extremely helpful and hospitable. She’s always ready to sort out any problem, whether it’s a late arrival, early departure, or something else. Always smiling, in a good mood, and very efficient. Thank her for a wonderful time in Frederikshavn. I’d always like to come back! The hotel is clean, comfortable, quiet, and cozy, right in the city centre. It’s 1 min. from the main pedestrian street and 10 min. from the train station. Breakfast was nice and always on time. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen for making your own food, plus a nice lounge to meet friends or watch TV.

There was plenty of room for 4 people, but a few basic things brought this down to 3 stars instead of 4. Every soap bottle was empty, the toilet door had no lock, and one extension cord was badly stripped but still plugged into the wall. It’s a hostel, but some basic things should be taken care of.
