The holiday apartment had a terrible musty smell, and I was worried there might be mold. We contacted the owner straight away to ask for another apartment, but were told the others had the same problem, so moving wouldn't help. The advice was to switch on the bathroom ventilation and open the windows. The bad air gave me a headache, so we left after one night. We lost the money because the owner wouldn't refund us under the property's policy. The natural surroundings are lovely, but the place needs a thorough renovation and refurbishment.

Bornholm is lovely, but it feels like some landlords are cashing in on its popularity. Our summer 2018 stay at Sandkaas Cottages was awful: the cottage was dirty and smelled earthy, and the duvets and pillows were disgusting and no use at all. The owners refused to return any of the rent, even partly, after such a bad experience. I wouldn't want anyone else's holiday spoiled by staying there. I'd give zero stars if that were an option.

The sea view and the surroundings are beautiful. Inside, the living room is decent and the kitchenette has plenty of equipment, but the bedrooms feel really cramped. There's barely room beyond the bed and a tiny closet, with nowhere to leave suitcases.
