Absalon Hotel

The hotel is very well placed, about five minutes on foot from the station and ten from Tivoli. It was clean throughout, and the room had a fridge and free bottled water. The coffee machine was probably good, but I couldn’t work out how to use it. Our family room had two double beds, which wasn’t great for two adults and two teenagers. Breakfast was okay, and the pastries were nice. One issue for my vegetarian family members was that the bain marie held pancakes and scrambled eggs as well as frankfurters, so the egg dishes tasted strongly of sausage.

We spent three nights here with a group and had a very comfortable stay. The twin room faced the quiet inner courtyard, had enough space for luggage, an armchair corner with a small table, plus another large table with coffee and tea. The bathroom was roomy, with a bathtub and a handy window ledge for toiletries. Room and bath linen were good quality. It was warm, maybe a bit too warm, but we could control it, and there was a small refrigerator. Reception staff were quick and professional, even when it was busy. The bar and breakfast room were spacious, and the fresh buffet was delicious with plenty of choice. There was a luggage room and a toilet available, and security felt strong since a keycard was needed for the lift. It’s about 15-20 minutes’ walk to the centre and 10 minutes to Tivoli. Definitely a place to stay.

The staff were the standout for me. They made me feel at home, and it’s a family run hotel. The location is fantastic too, with bars and restaurants just around the corner, shops easily reached, and the train station one block away. Copenhagen’s history is all around, and it’s easy to get to Nyhavn, the parliament building, and the place. One of the best places I’ve stayed.

We had a standard double room for two nights, with just the right amount of space. The reception team were consistently welcoming, the lift came quickly, and the hallways were clean and well kept. I appreciated the bathroom products too, a 2-in-1 shampoo/body wash plus a separate conditioner, a nice step up from the usual 3-in-1. The hotel’s in a pleasant area and makes a good base for a city break, with excellent transport links from the central train station to get around Copenhagen.
