Admiral Hotel Copenhagen

The Admiral has a lot of character, and it’s only a short walk to Nyhaven. Ask for a room toward the back if you want the amazing view. Inside, the rooms are cozy and cute, with extras like a fridge stocked with drinks, an iron, and a blow dryer. The remodeled entrance is gorgeous too.

The location is good and the decor is great, but the service was badly disorganized during my February 2026 stay. I waited a long time at the desk before being seated in the restaurant, then was forgotten there. After 35 minutes trying to find someone, I left. It was only 6pm. Food and drink orders also needed two or three follow-ups and could take 45 minutes, while paying took 20. The staff seemed stretched and stressed. Renovations were still underway. The gym had no working water, and areas were often closed for maintenance. Maybe it’ll be excellent in a year, but I wouldn’t stay before then.

On my birthday, they kindly upgraded me to a room with a gorgeous riverfront view. The building really is an attraction in itself, just as the hotel says. I loved ending the day at the bar, and the room was comfortable and high quality. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was especially welcome on a cold Copenhagen day. I was so impressed that I’ll look for a chance to return.

The calm neighborhood makes it easy to enjoy a central stay without feeling caught up in the rush. You’re right on the canal with open waterfront views, yet only a short walk from attractions, good restaurants, and Copenhagen’s main shopping streets. The canal-side seating, boat rentals, and buggy tours from the hotel are nice extras, and the setting seems especially appealing in summer. The renovated rooms feel clean and current, with Bluetooth speakers in the shower, Chromecast, good water pressure, proper towels, and careful details. The building still has its original character, while the interiors feel dependable and updated. The room finish and comfort are at a five-star level. Breakfast is another highlight, with fresh ingredients and plenty of choice. Staff were helpful and straightforward from check-in through checkout. Admiral Hotel feels polished and well run, and I’d gladly return.
