The bar was a highlight, with good beer and free games to play, and breakfast was great too. It’s very good value and well located for Tivoli gardens. The rooms are basic, and you have to make the beds yourself when you arrive. The pillows weren’t good, but the shower was nice and the bed was comfortable. It had what we needed for a comfortable stay.

The luggage room was a real disappointment. There are no lockers, just a keypad door, and once it opens, anyone can leave or take bags. There’s no security or compensation if something goes missing, and insurance costs extra. We paid for three suitcases at check-in, but there’s no actual control, so someone could pay for one and leave many more. We even saw six French people waiting by the door after storing bags without paying, hoping someone else would open it. Anyone who understands the setup could pay 35 DKK and walk off with several suitcases. The hostel says it has special Bolt taxi prices, but when I checked during our stay, the app itself was always cheaper. We saved 100 DKK on the airport ride by booking directly, so check the price first. We also had a bad experience at reception. We don’t speak Danish, and the woman helping us spoke broken English and seemed annoyed when we couldn’t follow her. I’m not a native speaker, but I work in an English-speaking company and haven’t had communication problems before. My friend speaks English very well and was confused too. We waited for another staff member to ask our questions again, and that person was much clearer and more helpful. The first woman seemed frustrated dealing with international guests, and the whole exchange felt passive-aggressive. The location is excellent, but it’s expensive for what you get. I know Denmark, especially Copenhagen, costs a lot, but charging extra for a hair dryer when a family books a full room feels cheap. The linens are basic, you only get one small towel per person, and extra items cost more. The bathroom flooded whenever someone showered because the shower door had a 5 cm gap at the bottom, soaking the floor. That wasn’t acceptable. We rented bikes, and they put a 1,500 DKK deposit per bike on my card in case we stole them. For four people, that meant 6,000 DKK tied up, with only a vague promise it would come back in five or six working days. They could have taken an ID or passport copy like other rental places do. I was extremely annoyed and surprised by the treatment, despite knowing this was a cheap hostel. I haven’t been treated so passive-aggressively in a long time, and I’ll choose somewhere else next time I’m in Copenhagen.

The room turned out nicer than we expected, with everything we needed for the kitchen and bathroom, and it was clean. The staff were very helpful, and when we reached out before booking, they responded attentively. Everything was within walking distance, and our stay exceeded expectations. One thing I wish we’d known earlier was that they would charge a deposit to the card during the stay. It should be stated in the reservation details.

For the price, it was fine and the rooms were clean, though nothing special. Breakfast was good, but the service could’ve been better. We had to get the sheets ourselves, and the bunk bed ladder was tucked behind the door and hard to find. The stairs were a bit odd too.
