I used the hotel toilet, which was clean, and the staff were accommodating. I’d highly recommend this hotel to tourists staying in Copenhagen.

The location is great, with shops and wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance, and it’s easy to reach from the train station. This classic hotel sits in the middle of Copenhagen city centre, serves a nice breakfast with your stay, and has a high-end restaurant and bar attached. The groups smoking cigarettes at the front are my one gripe, since the smoke gets into the lobby.

I had a very disappointing stay at Scandic Palace Copenhagen, well below what I expect from an international hotel. Several problems were never put right. Housekeeping didn’t come, even though I submitted a request through the hotel’s QR system. By the end of the day nothing had been done, so I had to get clean towels from the corridor myself. Guests shouldn’t have to do that. The safe didn’t work, the minibar was empty, and there was no complimentary water or other standard comforts. Breakfast was poor too: the bread was hard, the juice glasses smelled unpleasant, and some equipment wasn’t working properly. It didn’t live up to the reputation of a top-rated Scandinavian breakfast. When I complained, management kept referring to Scandic’s internal policies and “sustainability concepts” instead of addressing the issues. They denied responsibility and defended their procedures, with a corporate, dismissive tone and no effort to offer a simple fix or goodwill gesture. Those explanations don’t change the fact that essential services weren’t provided. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to travellers who expect reliability, comfort, and professionalism.

The location can’t be beat, and my economy room was larger than I expected, with a kettle and fridge. But there were some glaring quality problems, perhaps because it was a cheaper room. The toilet seat was cracked, and I only discovered that when I used it. It pinched sharply and took off some leg hair, so I had to cover it with toilet paper for the rest of my stay. The shower head was nearly blocked by calcium deposits, leaving several streams missing or crooked. It would take 5-10 minutes to clean with a scrubber or even a pin. I cleared several nozzles with my thumbnail, which showed a real lack of care. Breakfast was mediocre and definitely not worth the price. I wouldn’t book here again.
