Wakeup Copenhagen Borgergade

Being so close to everything was my favourite part. Bars and restaurants were only a few minutes away, Nyhavn was a few streets over, and Magasin du Nord was less than a five-minute walk. The Little Mermaid statue took about half an hour to reach on foot. There's a restaurant in the hotel, bikes to rent, snacks and drinks, and an express key box for checkout. It's a really good budget hotel, but the basic rooms are better for a short visit. I wouldn't suggest one for two people or for more than three nights. My room stayed quite cold even after I turned up the heating. The shower doors also wouldn't close all the way, so the bathroom floor flooded each time, and there was no bath mat.

The reception team were friendly and helpful, and checkout was as simple as handing over the key. You can pay by cash or card, and they provide VAT bills. The lobby is spacious and modern, with room to relax or have a short meeting. They also store luggage for guests with early checkouts or late flights. Wakeup Copenhagen Borgergade is right in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of major sights, restaurants, shops, and parks. The metro is about seven minutes away. The hotel has breakfast only, with coffee, juice, bread, pastries, fruit, and non-vegetarian choices. It was quite good. Bicycle rental and taxi booking are available too. Rooms are compact but cozy, with attached bathrooms. They provide shampoo only. If your charger won't fit a Danish socket, you can buy an adapter at reception. The Wi-Fi was strong, and lift access requires a key.

The staff were kind and very helpful, and breakfast was delicious, though there wasn't much variety. Our room was modern, clean, and good for a three-night stay. It might feel too small if you stayed longer. The hotel was nicely located and good value for money.

Breakfast was poor and chaotic, with limited food, crowded tables, and other guests' dishes to clear just to find somewhere to sit. They also charged us to store our baggage and didn't give us a receipt. The location may be good, but for what it offers this place is hugely overpriced. The rest felt like a low-budget hostel, and I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. We were in Copenhagen for a conference and booked here because it was on the organizers' recommended list. I regret not reading reviews first. The rooms are extremely cramped, barely leaving space to move. The shower is a narrow cylinder right beside the bed. Its temperature can jump from cold to boiling hot, and there's nowhere to step aside. The room didn't have even a glass or cup for water. They don't clean rooms, supposedly for environmental reasons, but it felt like cost-cutting at guests' expense. We asked the night before for cleaning and fresh towels the next day, but nothing happened.
