We had a thoroughly disappointing stay at Hildebrandt Hammer Hotels (Wide Hotel). The polished branding and claims of Danish heritage didn't match the experience. The reception staff came across as scruffy and indifferent. We had three large suitcases and asked for help getting up the raised entrance and then finding our sixth-floor room through a maze-like layout. They refused, saying, “We don’t do that” and “We can’t leave reception.” There was no attempt to help or show courtesy. The hotel seemed neglected. The public spaces and elevators looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years, and our room was worn, shabby, and visibly dirty. Breakfast was just as dismal: sparse food in a large, soulless room that felt like a train station waiting area. The staff looked grim and uninterested. Tired facilities, unkempt staff, and a lack of care made this a miserable experience. I'd stay somewhere else.

The reception team made a real difference. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and proactive, and they dealt with a heating problem quickly and professionally. Breakfast was another plus, with fresh ingredients, a good range of food, and a relaxed atmosphere. The gym was well equipped, too. Wide Hotel has a modern, stylish interior and a great location, with major sights within walking distance and good transport nearby. The main drawback is the single room size. There's a huge TV and a tiny cupboard, but little practical space for toiletries, makeup, or personal things. A very heavy chair takes up so much room that moving around is difficult.

Breakfast was great, with everything you'd expect, cinnamon rolls included, and the hotel's location was very good. We had the tower room, 6619, for three nights. It was spacious, with views in every direction, and the bed was extremely comfortable with top-quality linens. The room hadn't been cleaned. We complained one evening, and the young man at check-in came upstairs with us and cleaned it himself. We hadn't expected that, and really appreciated it.

The bar and breakfast areas were lovely, and the location is right in the centre. Reception was very helpful, especially Daniel, and the service was very good. The double deluxe room was small but comfortable. Its bathroom was really tiny, like a cupboard. I'd recommend the hotel overall.

I keep coming back here when I'm in Copenhagen. It's close to vesterport station, so commuting is easy, and there are nice places to eat and drink right nearby. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is always good. When the weather cooperates, I especially like getting a balcony room. A nice spot.
