Hostel & Camping Frederiksværk City

The pitch was lovely, and the service building was spotless, with hot showers and good water pressure. We were greeted warmly and offered coffee during our three-night stay. Would definitely come back!

The staff were friendly, and the site was handy for a train into Copenhagen, about a nine-minute walk to the station and roughly 1 hour 20 minutes by train. It had a hostel feel and was okay. We were in a camper, so only used the basic toilets and showers. Water pressure was poor when trying to get warmer water.

The receptionists were kind, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We booked the cabin two months ahead and found a used sock under the pillow. It was really dirty, as if they hadn’t taken the time to clean properly. There were also about 10 spiders, honestly, and I couldn’t sleep. I know the campsite is surrounded by nature, but spiders don’t come through walls. With so many webs around, it seemed like the place hadn’t been cleaned at all.

The way the receptionist handled the payment felt rude, even though we had no issue paying the agreed amount for the cabin upgrade. She left the linens outside on the dirt and insisted she’d given us two sets, then later admitted she’d left them in the dryer. They looked crumpled and not clean or presentable.
