Hotel Strandparken

The setting is beautiful, but the rooms have seen better days. A sauna or spa would be a nice addition. Breakfast didn’t have much variety, so maybe they could rotate things a bit.

The view and location were great, and the food was decent, though nothing special. The hotel itself feels pretty run down. It had that standard Danish hotel feel: a narrow, small bed, pillows much too soft, blankets too short, and a bathroom that wasn’t inviting.

Breakfast was limited and dull, with stale “scrambled” eggs and dry bread. As soon as I walked into the room, my eyes started itching and I began sneezing. Dust or mould, who knows? The bed was broken and uncomfortable, right against a giant heater, and my view was of the parking lot.

The food was the worst part. If you don’t eat the usual meat-and-potatoes kind of meals, your needs won’t be met. Dinner was just a small selection of root vegetables, and several people in our group went hungry and ended up at the next 7/11 down the road. Some staff were friendly and accommodating, but others weren’t on top of things, and one waitress was fairly rude. For what we got, it felt quite pricey, and I wouldn’t stay again. The conference room was super cold and couldn’t be adjusted. The hardwood floors looked nice but were noisy and impractical for large groups, and the chairs, adjacent meeting rooms, and open coffee corner outside added to the noise. There was only open Wi-Fi with no password, which caused issues with certain company-imposed restrictions. The room was okay, nothing special. The bathroom was clearly old, and the TV was partly broken, though the beds were comfortable and it was warm. The view wasn’t great either: you could see the fjord, but construction debris and dumpsters weren’t pretty.
