Hotel Villa Strand

The location is perfect and the garden is pretty. It could use some kind of self-service option for coffee, water and the like.

There was no atmosphere at all.

The location is the only positive thing I can say about this place. We had a bad experience and won’t be back. The rooms are small, with a chair where a bedside table should be. There’s no table or anything besides the bed, and the only trash can is the little one in the bathroom. There’s no clear way to ask for cleaning or to be left undisturbed. The place is terribly drafty. At one point it was 19 degrees, and even turning up the radiator didn’t warm the room. By the window it was cold enough to keep red wine and water chilled, but the rest of the tiny room was freezing too. Everything was closed, and there was no service or way to get coffee unless you walked 300m up to Hornbækhus. That’s also where you had to go for breakfast or to find staff, and they didn’t answer when we called. Someone had been allowed to hold a pre-party in the closed rooms, too. No one told us. The noise and loud music replaced any peace, and we had to go downstairs and interrupt the party ourselves to find out what was happening. Breakfast was a scrappy experience. We got one juice, and apparently could have more if we went to the kitchen ourselves to ask. Nobody checked in or offered a refill. After ticking the box for fruit, I got a 1/6 slice of blood orange with salt on it. That was the only fruit available. I’ve never seen rye bread cut so thin, and the coffee was nearly transparent.
