Danhostel Ishøj Strand

Copenhagen is just 20 minutes away by train, and the beach isn't far either. We had a lovely stay at Danhostel, in a settlement of well-equipped red cottages. The main house is bright, with a spacious guest kitchen and lots of seating that makes you want to linger. A great hostel, thank you!

The nearby beach was nice, and public transport made it easy to get here, though there's not much close by. The hostel is nicely spread out, with good facilities. For a hostel, it's nice: our clean room had six beds, three sets of bunks, and its own bathroom.

We arrived at 15:00, during business hours, but there was nobody at the counter. We had to search for about 30 minutes and eventually track someone down in the car park to check us in ourselves. No one told us breakfast hours, so when we came at 9:40 the next morning, they said it had ended at 9:00 and wouldn't serve us. After waiting 10 minutes and ringing the bell, a woman finally appeared and said they'd already collected all the breakfast. She offered coffee in a plastic container, which we refused for hygiene reasons. Irresponsible check-in and bad service.

It's dog friendly, and the rooms are spacious. The bathroom is a little spartan, but perfect for the price. The location is amazing, a 15-minute walk from the beach, right by the tram, and only a 15-minute ride to Copenhagen.
