Hotel Skandinavien

The owner’s hospitality was the real highlight. He was kind and friendly, and showed us a side of Denmark we hadn’t seen on our trip. When he noticed how upset I was about losing my backpack on the other side of the island, he offered to drive me there himself, even though it was a big inconvenience. He works incredibly hard. Thank you, Erik! The hotel is central, just a few steps from the water, and has what you need. Our room was clean, simple, and functional, and breakfast had clearly been put together with care. We really enjoyed our stay.

The host couldn’t have been more welcoming, and you can see how hard he works. The hotel is clearly in the middle of a major refurbishment and still needs a lot of investment, but that doesn’t take too much away from its comfort and charm. Our room was comfortable, the location made it easy to have dinner in town, and breakfast was good.

We’ve stayed in nicer hotels, and in worse ones, but I’m not sure we’ve ever felt more welcome. Our group of nine arrived late after dinner, and the owner greeted the whole family with a handshake and a warm hello. Our family of four stayed in the apartment across the street, and we had free run of the hotel and town on Sunday night. The kids even talked to each other across the street with two cups and a string. It’s a vintage hotel with vintage hospitality, conveniently located in town and close to the ferry.

The harbor view from our clean, nice room was lovely. Eric, the owner, gave us outstanding service and hospitality, and the location worked perfectly for what we needed. We’d definitely stay here again if we come back.
