Nysted Strand Camping

It's a quiet spot close to nature, and we enjoyed staying here with the family. The hosts were very nice and the service was excellent. Along with the usual toilets and kids' play areas, there are family bathrooms with a toilet and shower. Everyone can use the kitchen, which has a modern oven and gas cooking plates, at no extra cost. Fresh bread is available each morning 🥐

We stayed for one night at the end of July on the way to Copenhagen. There's one toilet, and it was clean and well maintained. The camper plot is separate from the main campground, though, and while it has a nice, quiet spot with a lake view, there are no proper facilities like showers, a kitchen, or a dishwashing sink there. The website doesn't say campers are placed a bit off on their own. I assume you can use the main campground's facilities, but they're at least a 5min walk away, longer with a child, so not really around the corner. It's fine for one night, but I wouldn't recommend staying longer.

In 2016, on our way to Sweden, our car broke down in Denmark and needed a few days of work at a garage. We had to stay nearby, so we looked for a camping place and found Nysted camping. We hadn't reserved, and most cabins were occupied, but the owners did their best to find us one that suited us. They were very kind and nice. The cabin was clean and well equipped, in a lovely spot near the sea and a very good restaurant. We'd highly recommend Nysted Strand Camping for a holiday.

The staff are friendly and the surroundings are nice, but Friday night is a problem. They light a wood fire for the kids, with stick bread and popcorn, right in the middle of the cabin group. I didn't come here for the smoke, noise, or the kids' activity. Without that, it would have been five solid stars. It's a bit expensive, but worth it. With the smoke and noise, I felt cheated out of a nice evening.
