Hotel Menstrup Kro

We were offered our money back after sending photos, to be fair, but it was so late for our young son that we had to stay and get through the night. I regret spending 840kr on the place. It was a ghost hotel with no staff, and the shared area had glasses full of flies left by long-gone guests. Outside, cigarette butts were scattered around. The beds were disgusting, with stained pillows under the sheets and old, moldy sheets marked by previous guests beneath the linen. Room 205 smelled of smoke, so we moved to 204, where the TV didn’t work and the shower drain was blocked, making water come up through it. The place is badly run down, and the Sunday service was absent. Don’t trust the fake-positive reviews. A total catastrophe, among my three worst hotel experiences.

The rooms smelled, and loud music was coming from downstairs. Staying there felt like being in The Shining. It’s a terrible hotel with 1930s conditions and 2025 prices. I also think the Booking reviews are fake, managed and filtered by “a partner company” that won’t allow genuine guest reviews.

The first night’s food was okay, but the second night’s was pretty bad. We asked for ice cream and got two scoops, then learned at checkout that it cost 88 kroner per person. The room was filthy, with spiderwebs and wine stains, and the hallway ceilings looked ready to collapse. I wouldn’t recommend Menstrup Kro, and I definitely won’t return.

Maybe this was once a good Danish kroe, but now it’s a worn-out old place to sleep. Even at a low price, it’s fallen apart. It has a history nobody seems to care about anymore, and even the staff had dirty clothes, though they do what they can. The owner should be ashamed. 😡
