Hotel Fjordkroen

Quiet natural surroundings and a really peaceful, cozy place. The bed was good, and I liked having a fridge and minibar in the room. Thumbs up.

Breakfast was amazing, and the hotel itself was nice and clean. Still, I probably wouldn't recommend it for a bikepacking trip. We chose it because it sits on the cycling route from Berlin to Copenhagen, but arriving in cycling clothes at this four-star hotel made us feel out of place. People stared as if we shouldn't be there dressed that way, and check-in took a long time. The food was very expensive, so we didn't feel like eating there without more suitable clothes.

The food was delicious, though prices were high, and about a third of the English menu was marked unavailable. The room was small, and we had to share a bathroom with guests from three other rooms. Traffic from the road outside was audible, and the blinds let in enough sunlight to wake us quite early. It wasn't a bad stay, but it was definitely overpriced and not what you'd expect of a four-star hotel.

The dessert was easily the best part of the meal. The food tasted good, but service and pacing had problems: the steak and fish were overcooked, we waited about an hour between starters and the main course, then another half hour for dessert.
