Restaurant Backhaus

The back area was pleasant and not crowded, and the staff were friendly. Service was fine, but the food was disappointing. We ordered fillet steaks at fair prices for that cut. I asked for mine rare, but it came very overdone and chewy. I'm fairly sure it wasn't fillet, and we weren't even given steak knives. At that point, angle grinders might have been more useful. When you're paying for an expensive cut, you want to enjoy it. The food was plain average, and I wouldn't return for dinner.

My wife loved the mushroom sauce, and the portions were generous. The service was a bit slow, but that gave us plenty of time to enjoy the hearty food and drinks. It was the best shooting star I've had so far, though I'm not from Denmark.

I hadn't stayed at the hotel, so this is just about the food. It was my first restaurant visit in Denmark, which means I can't compare it with others or say how the prices are. The place was clean and cozy, the service quick and polite, and the food good with a solid portion. I have no real complaint and would gladly eat here again. I'm not completely sure five stars is fair, maybe it should be closer to 4.5. But since the current average is lower than that, giving four would feel even less fair.

The local beer was especially good, and we were quite satisfied with the food. Because of our allergies, they adapted the meals really well. In other restaurants they often just leave out what we can't eat, but here they added something else, for example in place of peas. The portions were very large. The fries were a bit too salty for my wife's taste, and some salt had spread onto her schnitzel by the end. We also waited quite a while for the main courses after starting with a mixed salad, which is why I gave four stars.
