Roskilde Camping

I wouldn’t recommend this place. For the price, the overall value just isn’t there. The WiFi barely worked, and the path to the toilets was too poorly lit to feel safe. The shower costs 2 kr per 45 seconds, even though warm water only lasted about 30 seconds, and electricity is charged separately. The kitchen and toilet were clean, and the pitches weren’t crowded together, so it was fairly quiet. It’s also easy to drive into the city center to look around. But one bathroom room was broken and still left open 😅😅.

The views are beautiful and the location is good, so this could be a lovely campsite. What bothered me was the shared bathrooms and toilets, which weren’t very clean and made me uncomfortable. There are a few single sex public toilets at the edge of the site, but they were dirty. It’s a shame there aren’t single sex bathrooms.

We visited outside the main season, so there seemed to be plenty of room and good access to the facilities. That might change when it gets busy, since they could be crowded then. The cleaning is regular, but not especially thorough, and cleanliness is only medium. The site is near central Roskilde, with nice pitches close to the waterfront and an impressive view of the city skyline.

Seven bikes were stolen in one night, and there are no cameras, just a low fence, so security feels almost nonexistent. The facilities look nice, but the floors and walls never seemed to get cleaned, hot water was often missing even with the paid system, and the trampoline had a dangerous hole. At this high price, the service is poor, and the “commercial gesture” was ridiculous. It’s very disappointing. This campsite seems to get by because there’s no real competition around Copenhagen.
