Color Hotel Skagen

The grounds are stunning and stretch out among the dunes. I spent a weekend here at the beginning of October, and this lovely resort was just what I wanted while exploring Denmark’s northern point. The lobby and restaurant are casual but still feel sophisticated. Breakfast was served in a smart dining room, with a full range of choices, including homemade Danish-style pastries and local sea buckthorn marmalade. That was a wonderful touch, and not something I’ll find back home. They also have bicycles for hire, which came in handy for touring Skagen, Grenen, and Højen, all easy to reach. After a day out, the hot tub and large modern sauna were very relaxing, with a view of the idyllic surroundings. We befriended a lovely, warm and welcoming group who had come across the strait from Norway, and they made our stay special. Skagen itself feels surreal in a good way: remote, very Scandinavian, and easy to get to by train. It’s modern and traditional, natural and real, and very beautiful. If I’m lucky enough to return, I’d stay here again and maybe bring my family to enjoy the hotel and its lovely surroundings. Thank you for a great stay.
