Book this place if you fancy a house with at least 7 cameras watching you, even in the kitchen, moldy food in the fridge, a 400dkk late arrival fee, 100dkk extra for sheets, and 300dkk more for a small child. The host seemed like they hadn't smiled in years.

The place itself was nice and clean, and the price seemed reasonable compared with other places nearby. What bothered us were the charges: 400 dkk to check in after 5 pm, plus 100dkk pp for sheets and towels and another 100dkk for cleaning. We only heard about these after booking and paying through booking, which was really annoying. Luckily, we still had time to bring our own sheets and towels, and there was a vacuum and cleaning supplies so we could clean the room ourselves.

Getting to the bathroom at night was what we missed most. To reach it in the main building, we had to cross the lawn and a bridge over a garden pond. The doors were below the standard 2,10 m, which could make getting to the loo tricky after a wet night out. For the facilities, the stay felt fairly expensive, though it was around the same price as other private home hostels in town. Clean sheets and room cleaning cost extra, and guests make their own beds, like at a youth hostel.

The garden is cute, but with what we paid, the extra charges felt outrageous. Sheets cost another 100dkk per person and cleaning was 100dkk. What's next?

The atmosphere was relaxed, and our room was clean and cozy. The staff were accommodating too. A great place in Skagen.
