We came away feeling we'd been overcharged and badly treated at this incredibly expensive campsite. We were traveling a long way with small kids, so after paying in advance for two nights and emailing that the ferry from Norway might get us there after the 2215 barrier closure, we parked in the guest car park when we arrived late. We thought that was reasonable since we'd paid, and connected to a nearby unused outlet post with our electric cable over the fence so we could use the sanitary facilities. The next morning, reception angrily accused us of breaking in and stealing electricity. They let us check in at 9am only reluctantly, even though we were checking in for the previous night, because regular check-in wasn't until 2pm. When we got inside, we saw tents several times bigger than ours in the tent area. We'd been refused a normal tent space because staff repeatedly said our compact mountaineering tent was too large, without asking its size or explaining the limit or why it mattered. After we went back to reception, they held to that claim for several minutes, then admitted it was false and said they should have let us use the much cheaper tent area, though it was still overpriced. They didn't apologize, and said it didn't matter because “we can't make any refunds or changes because our headquarters is in Sweden.” The following day I saw staff tell a German couple their RV was too large for one camping place and charge them for two. They spoke only German and couldn't understand the staff or me when I tried to help. I've had no success contacting headquarters. We raised our own issue at the campsite and were told to contact the head office in Sweden. We've now exchanged emails with that office for a week without resolution. And no, it wasn't because a car had to be present at the campsite. If that was the rule, staff couldn't communicate it in our repeated conversations. Thanks for accusing me of lying in a public forum, and good luck in future. Dishonest staff, terrible service, highly overpriced.

We had prepaid for two nights after emailing the site that we were arriving on the ferry from Norway and might miss the 2215 barrier closing. We're a retired professional couple, traveling for eight weeks in a small campervan from Norway to Portugal and back. This was by far the least friendly and helpful site of our trip. We arrived after the barrier had shut, so we parked in the guest car park, ran our electric cable over the fence to an unused outlet post nearby, and went in to use the sanitary facilities. The next morning we walked to reception to check in properly and were met with an angry tirade about breaking in and stealing electricity. Prepayment made no difference to them. They only let us check in at 9am on sufferance, although the stated check-in time was 2pm and we were checking in for the night before. The location and facilities were reasonable, but I can't recommend the site. If being made to feel welcome matters to you, there are several other campsites in the area.

Modern, clean showers and toilets, plus an easy walk to Skagen and Grenen and a spot right by the beach. We were lucky to get one of the best pitches, though some parts of the campsite are packed. It was full even in late August, so I guess booking ahead is a good idea. A pleasant place to stay and a good base for visiting Denmark's northern point.

Being so close to Grenen Strand, where the Skagerrak meets the Kattegat at Denmark's northernmost point, is a real plus. But First Camp Grenen Strand was just okay for camping, and I would probably skip it next time. It was too crowded for me, and the tent spot I got was only somewhat decent. I still don't understand how the price was decided. At check-in I was told that if you haven't booked ahead, you get the flex price on arrival, and that this price may or may not go higher. Who decides that? It seems pretty shady to me, since whoever checks you in could charge whatever amount they want and say it's the flexible price. That's not transparent.

The manager and team welcomed us warmly, and we had a handful of pitches to choose from at this lovely seaside campsite near the end of Denmark. Behind the dunes was a beach with some WW2 remains; beyond those monuments, we could see the bay and huge ships waiting outside the harbour. The washrooms were the cleanest and most modern I saw during my trip through Denmark.
