We booked this place online at the last minute from the car and waited less than ten minutes for it to be ready. It was worth every minute. The location is great, with parking on site, and it’s only a few minutes’ walk from the ferry and downtown. For what we paid it was fantastic, and even at twice the price I think it would have been worth it. The photos don’t do it justice. The mess in them is ours: we brought our own food and I hadn’t picked it up before taking the pictures. It was spotless when we arrived, and we tried to leave it that way. There was a kitchen, sitting area, bedroom with a large adult bed and a crib-sized child’s bed tucked in the corner, plus a private TV area with two twin beds and two foldable beds. That second sleeping area had a curtain instead of a door, which was better for hearing the children. There was a private bathroom with a shower, and a washer and dryer. We had everything we needed: coffee maker, dishes, cups, flatware, pots and pans, baking dishes, towels, bed linens, and pillows. Bring your own toiletries. If you forget them, the grocery store is a ten-minute walk away. It felt like a second home, or like renting a two-bedroom apartment rather than a little guest room. The space and amenities were outstanding. The lighting could be bright or dim, it was quiet with little traffic noise, and the temperature was comfortable. There was even a small wood-burning stove. A seat by the door for taking off your shoes would be helpful, but I’m not fancy and sat on the steps. The smoking area out front could use an ashcan, so I brought the cigarette butts inside and put them in the trash. The instructions and suggested rules were only in Danish, but Google Translate worked fine. I suspect we got the wrong online rate, but the owner honoured it and didn’t charge us more. Seven or more people could easily sleep here without tripping over each other. I can’t say how surprised we were to get so much for so little! The owner is a sweetheart, intelligent and easy to talk to, and clearly talented. The work was well done and cleverly arranged to make the most of the space while keeping it beautiful. The owner was building steps out back leading to a courtyard off the kitchen. It looked very cozy. If I stayed in Denmark long enough, I’d return to see it finished. This is definitely going on my list of places to stay when visiting Denmark. It could also work for a larger family needing a place for a wedding in Ærøskøbing, only an hour away by ferry. I’d stay again without question. It’s a wonderful little place, worth twice what we paid.

Someone offered me money to give this hotel five stars. I thanked that person.

Lovely place with a nautical feel. A good room for an okay price.

The rooms were nice.

The room felt spacious and comfortable, and the accommodation was clean with welcoming decor. Everything needed for a pleasant stay was there. We also liked the huge outdoor area, though it was too cold to enjoy it; it looks like it would be lovely in summer. A few things did bother me. The bathroom had a faint unpleasant drain smell, but it wasn't too bad. The front door lock needs fixing, since anyone can get in easily. I also don't understand why the lights in the shared areas can't be turned off, as they must use a lot of electricity. I asked the owner if I could wash my clothes, and he agreed. On the day I arrived, he said he'd come collect them, but he never showed up. I messaged him and got no reply, which felt very disrespectful. Still, I loved the stay and can recommend it.
