I arrived at the hotel between 7 and 8 p.m. after getting an email from an employee saying I could check in around 8 and would have a room. But the guy at the front desk said the hotel was full. I showed him the email and my confirmation, and he said there was nothing he could do. Then the security guard on duty told me to follow him upstairs to a very nice-looking room. I said it looked nice, and we went back downstairs to speak with the employee. They told me the door lock wasn't working properly and asked if I still wanted the room. Definitely not. I walked down the street with my luggage to another hotel, where they helped me out. Before arriving, I'd called to confirm my reservation through booking.com. The woman hung up on me, and when I called back, there was no answer. I sent two emails; the first was ignored, and an employee replied to the second.
The jacuzzi in our room was a lovely extra, and we always felt safe and welcome in this working-class neighborhood. We stayed for a week, with our room next to the pool, so there was music and some noise, but it was all pleasant. The manager keeps a close eye on what’s going on, and the staff are kind and hardworking. The price is good too. I’d definitely recommend it.
This is where I stay when I’m in the DR for a couple of days away from my usual all-inclusive, usually for 2-4 days. The location is really convenient, with plenty to do nearby, and the prices feel fair for what’s included: two welcome drinks, breakfast, a pool, full Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and strong AC. The front desk woman was very nice, and my WhatsApp reservation was handled in an organized way. You can also order food for a reasonable extra charge. The one drawback was a loud rooster or some other bird at 5 a.m. that kept us from sleeping well, lol. Otherwise, no complaints. I’d highly recommend it.
I keep choosing Lirio Cala Hotel when I visit Dominican Republic. They make me feel welcome and comfortable every time, and the customer service is excellent. I especially appreciate receptionist Lisbeth and housekeeper Nurys for the care they give.
