VIK hotel Cayena Beach

The rooms were the main drawback for us. They felt a bit dated, though we weren’t there to spend all day indoors. For the price, my boyfriend’s family and I had a great week and I’d book again. I’d been concerned by what I’d read about the rooms and service, but the resort was a pleasant surprise. The pool stayed clean and was rarely crowded except during water aerobics. The ocean was gorgeous, and they cleared the seaweed regularly. We enjoyed the food, with enough variety that they didn’t serve the same things all week. Even my boyfriend’s picky sister always found something at the buffet, and none of us got sick.

The beach was lovely, though seasonal sargassum was there during our visit. The resort staff cleaned it every day. We found the food edible and fine, but pretty average, and the staff generally weren’t very welcoming or helpful. The rooms were clean but old-looking and worn, like the rest of the resort, which could use improvement. The shower was especially frustrating: barely any pressure, and the water kept swinging from very hot to very cold. Our stay at Vik Hotel was okay, nothing special, and I personally wouldn’t choose it again.

Food and drinks were available everywhere, which made it a great stay for the price. We booked the Air Transat all inclusive and took the airport shuttle, arriving to a warm welcome. The rooms could use an upgrade, but you get what you pay for. One of the best budget friendly all inclusive resorts. Love it 😀.

The beach was beautiful and clean, and the water was amazing. I’m more of a beach person, though the pool was nice too. We found chairs every day but the last one, so go early if you want a seat. The nights were fun, with something going on, though not a lot. There are plenty of excursions through the hotel. For my first all inclusive, this place was amazing and I already can’t wait to return. The staff were friendly, and the rooms worked perfectly for what we needed. The shower took a long time to warm up, but we managed. Gluten free food was available, with lots to choose from, though not as much as I would have wanted if gluten intolerant or celiac. Cross contamination will happen. The gym opens at 7am. I loved the lobby coffee and bar, and recommend the punta cana special drink.
