Lorca Residence

It’s a nice, quiet, clean, secure place for a vacation or a short or long stay. I’m living here now, and so far I have no complaints.

My wife and her friends booked the “penthouse” a month ahead for a girls’ night, and they came back disappointed and disgusted by the experience. A hotel should welcome its guests and make them feel comfortable, but this place didn’t do that. Please take it off Google so other people don’t end up disappointed, whether they stay for one night or a couple of days.

The place is well kept and the staff are friendly. I like that we can park on the property and know our vehicle is secure. The 24/7 security is a big plus too.

I’m a Canadian nomad photographer, traveling to take photos and help people promote themselves online with quality images. I do shoots for free in exchange for sharing the work on my own social media. My focus is food, fitness, boudoir, and clothing, and I also have friends and family in DR, so I attend weddings and birthdays. I stayed here around 15 times over four years and spent more than $5,000. I was a good customer, never complained or broke anything, and followed the rules. Later, management started accusing me of things without proof because I do photography, mostly food and friends. They spread rumors without checking with me, refused to delete my data despite offering that on their website, ignored my emails, and said they were full while renting to my Dominican friends. That’s rude and wrong. I cooked and made coffee for the security and cleaning staff every day. I left pots, pans, utensils, water jugs, clothes, and hygiene items during every stay. I only ever invited the same friends and showed their IDs at reception. I never took an illegal photo or mentioned Lorca. They started making stories about me and my friends just because I had a light, tripod, and good camera. The owner himself brings young girls onto the roof, and he’s a university teacher. The rooftop unit is advertised on the site, but it can’t be rented because he keeps it for his own parties. Check for yourself. I showed them every photo and explained what happened. When they saw they were wrong, they didn’t apologize, they just blocked me. This is a terrible way to run a business. I guess it’s tolerated in RD, though it wouldn’t be in many other countries. They recently opened a bar downtown, also packed with young girls. Seems like that’s how they attract them. Stay away from this place and the Guerrero family, the owners, father and son Carlos. I always brought the same people, never hid or lied about anything, and followed the property rules and professional photography standards. I’ve traveled all over and never had trouble with another hotel. I even lent money to Lisette at the front desk and never got it back. I’m a really nice person who does this work to help others, so the whole thing has been horrible. They never checked any facts with me. They don’t care about their clients if they aren’t Dominicans. They also lie about and accuse guests, encourage old men visiting with young girls, advertise a rooftop room that’s never available, and make comments that hurt clients’ reputations. There are lots of great Airbnb places in Higuey and good hotels too. Try Hotel Rod, Hotel Monarca, or somewhere else instead of Lorca residences. If you have any ethics or principles, or if you’re simply a white tourist, avoid this place. It was great when they first opened, but now it’s horrible because they don’t need your money.
