Hostal Magallanes Bayahibe

The best things were the location, with a fantastic view, and the caretaker Joel. The washing machine was good too, when there was water, and the young man at reception spoke English. We had booked an apartment through Booking.com for three nights, but water kept cutting out. The toilets had no water when we arrived, though the kind caretaker fixed that quickly. A little later, all the water stopped again, then a pump broke, so there was no shower in the morning. It was replaced during the day. The following day there was another outage and we had to wait for a repair before showering ahead of dinner. When we came back one evening, a man was asleep on the apartment balcony. He turned out to be a security guard. Most of the time, hotel laundry was spread over the balcony furniture. The apartment needs updating, and the kitchen and its equipment are generally poor.

It isn’t fancy, but it has everything you need for a stay. The view from the mini apartment makes it all worthwhile 🤩. The staff are super friendly, kind, and helpful.

That terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea was the highlight for me. Sitting with coffee each morning and looking out at the turquoise water was pure bliss. Hostal Magallanes in Bayahibe has a lovely, comfortable apartment with cozy rooms and thoughtful amenities. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the whole visit was a delight. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

We loved this place and Bayahibe. It was clean and beautiful, in an excellent location, and the staff were lovely. Waking up right “on the beach” was such a treat. There was fresh fruit, water, and juice in the fridge. The little kitchen was there, though we didn’t use it. Music from nearby bars could make it a bit noisy at night and in the morning.
