Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach Resort — All Inclusive

The beach itself is nice, but with hundreds of people, blaring music, and litter everywhere, it was hard to enjoy. The sand had cigarette butts, hair, and plastic in it, much of it apparently left by guests. Don’t let kids play there unless you want them finding a butt or hair every couple of minutes. The music was loud all over the resort, with DJs shouting over their mixes. We came to the tropics to relax, not listen to that. Food was foul, with poor hygiene and lots of waste. Chicken was usually undercooked, other meat could be tougher than leather, cheeses had no taste, and pancakes came frozen. The staff often seemed unhappy or rude. You could ask for something and be ignored, or they’d look at you and turn away to do something else. Everyone in our group of 13 got food poisoning or gastro, and 3/4 groups we met on holiday had it too. Apparently the place had closed earlier in the year over this problem, been cleaned, and stayed shut for 2 months before reopening. The issue is still there, likely because of poor igiene. We asked for laundry service and were promised three days in a row that it would be their top priority. They never cleaned our clothes, so we had to wash them in the sink. The safe stopped working with our passports inside. It took 3 days and five calls or visits to the front desk before anyone came to help. Twice I waited 1.5 hours in the room for security, but they never showed, despite the calls. Every morning from 6 to 9 am, the whole place smelled like rotten eggs. Activities were frustrating too. My sister booked a tennis lesson and the teacher never arrived. Sometimes you could book the tennis pitch for an hour but nobody was there to give you rackets or balls. We went to four different desks trying to get table soccer balls, and everyone sent us somewhere else. Eventually they asked for our passport. Why should I have to carry it around to play games in an all inclusive village? Do not recommend.

The beach is the best thing here, with clear, beautiful water. I paid 75 USD for a day pass, from 9 AM to 6 PM. The food wasn’t good.

We had such a nice family trip at viva Dominicus beach and plan to do it again next year. Thanks especially to Francesca at the front desk, Juan in viva cafe, and coco from the animation team.

I’m a member, and the resort’s right on a beautiful beachfront with easy access to the little town of Bayahibe. Everyone is super friendly. Some shop owners can be annoying, but they’re just trying to make a living, so it doesn’t bother me. There are lots of Italian and other Mediterranean restaurants nearby. They’re pricey, but the food is very good, and it’s nice to get out of the resort and try something different. The location is amazing, and the property is fully accessible too.
